Top 5 Listing Photo No-Nos…

Putting photos of your listings on your website is the single most important thing you can do to provide value to visitors, but not all photos are created equal. Here are the top five photo mistakes you can’t afford to make:

  1. Outdated photos – don’t have snow on the front yard if it’s August
  2. Not enough photos of the exterior – people want blue sky and green grass; if your listing has a nice backyard or is in a nice building, don’t be afraid to show it off!
  3. Non-flattering photos – I can’t believe how many Realtors™ take photos of messy bedrooms, or stained carpets. Listings need to be in show quality before they’re photographed.
  4. Photos that are too dark – If it’s a bright day outside and the sun is streaming in, your camera will automatically darken any photo of an interior room. Make sure to close blinds and turn on ALL incandescent lights (florescent lights can make colors look washed out) before taking any photos.
  5. Photos that are too small – If visitors to your website are squinting to see details on your photos, then they’re too small. Remember the golden rule – there’s no such thing as too big.
